Sleep apnea :
Sleep apnea, meaning pauses in breathing during sleep, is a phenomenon that usually occurs to obese people who have their necks compressed. This causes snoring, coupled with periods of complete obstruction of airflow. For an inexperienced observer, the sleeping person seems to regain his breath in a voluntary way. In fact, the person with sleep apnea is not at all aware of the problem or only feels that he is having a light sleep and wakes up frequently during the night.
The effects of sleep apnea on health can be serious. Indeed, it can result in arterial hypertension, cardiac rhythm disturbances and sudden death.
People who suffer from it wake up exhausted and often fall asleep during the day and sometimes even while driving.
This situation is associated with a high mortality rate and even endangers other people’s lives.
